Training Scholarship

All residents receive $20,000 paid directly to them tax-free.

Earn a Master’s in One Year

Complete your degree with one of our university partners with heavily reduced tuition.

Job Placement

Upon graduation, you will be placed into an AUSL-managed school and become an official Chicago Public School teacher and union member.

Teaching Salary

The starting salary for a Chicago Public School teacher at a Master’s degree level is around $57,000 (plus pension and other benefits).

Qualify for Teacher Student Loan Forgiveness

After five years of teaching in high-needs schools (AUSL’s network schools qualify), you may be eligible for student loan forgiveness.


DePaul University and National Louis University offer reduced tuition rates for our residents. Our one-year program rates are approximately $20,000 (standard tuition rates for the traditional programs range from $29,670 to $36,540).


Financial Aid is the combination of stipends, scholarships, grants, and loans.


All residents receive a scholarship of $20,000 tax-free, paid directly to them to be used towards tuition or living expenses.


Residents preparing to teach Math, Science, Special Education, or Foreign Languages in high-needs schools are eligible for up to an additional $4,000 in grant money.

Minority Teachers of Illinois (MTI) Scholarship Program

Qualifying residents are eligible for a scholarship of up to $5,000.

University Scholarships

Our residents qualify for university scholarships. DePaul University and National Louis University Financial Aid Departments work with residents to create a customized financial aid packages to fit their needs.

Student Loans

Subsidized and unsubsidized loans are available to students to help cover the cost of higher education.

Graduate PLUS Loans

PLUS loans help cost the gap and cover the costs that are not covered by other loan programs.

Perkins Loans

Is a low-interest rate loan program that are available to graduate students with exceptional financial need.

Job Placement

Teacher Loan Forgiveness Program

After you complete your five years of teaching at an AUSL-managed school, you could qualify for up to $17,500 in loan forgiveness.

If your debt is high in comparison to your income, you may qualify for a loan repayment plan based off of your income.

Federal Perkins Loan Cancellation

Teachers in schools that serve low-income families can qualify for Federal Perkins Loans forgiveness.
