Chicago Teacher Residency™ Tuition and Financial Aid

Deciding to enroll in the Chicago Teacher Residency is a big deal. You’re providing equity in education That’s why we work hard to provide financial support and competitive tuition costs.

Tuition

DePaul University and National Louis University offer discounted tuition rates for residents. For the one-year Master’s degree, tuition rates are approximately $20,000 (standard rates ranged from $29,670 to $36,540).

Scholarships/Grants

Training Scholarship

Once enrolled, all residents receive $20,000 over the course of their training year.

TEACH Grant

Residents preparing to teach Math, Science, Special Education, or Foreign Languages in high-needs schools are eligible for up to a $4,000. Learn more

Minority Teachers of Illinois (MTI) Scholarship Program

Qualifying residents are eligible for a scholarship of up to $5,000. Learn More

FAFSA

Don’t forget to fill out the FAFSA to see what federal assistance programs are available to you. In order to receive any type of financial aid, residents must complete the FAFSA before October 1st. Learn More

Residents may borrow from federal student loan programs such as Stafford (up to $20,500) and Graduate PLUS loans. Learn More

Teacher Loan Forgiveness

Under the Stafford Loan program, individuals who teach full time for five consecutive, complete academic years in high-needs schools may be eligible for loan forgiveness. Learn More
