Not only are you making a difference in the lives of students, but you’re taking the first step towards a career in education. Because of that, we provide:
All residents receive between $20,000-$30,000 (depending on master’s program), paid directly to them tax-free.
Earn a Master’s in One Year
Complete your degree with one of our university partners with heavily reduced tuition.
Upon graduation, you will be placed into an AUSL-managed school and become an official Chicago Public School teacher and union member.
The starting salary for a Chicago Public School teacher at a master’s degree level is around $56,000 (plus pension and other benefits).
DePaul University and National Louis University offer reduced tuition rates for our residents. Our one-year program rates are approximately $16,020 to $19,999 (standard tuition rates for the traditional programs range from $29,670 to $36,540).
SUPPORT YOU RECEIVE AS A RESIDENT
All residents receive a stipend between $20,000-$30,000 (depending on master’s program) tax-free, paid directly to them to be used towards tuition or living expenses.
Minority Teachers of Illinois (MTI) Scholarship Program
Qualifying residents are eligible for a scholarship of up to $5,000.

PLUS loans help cost the gap and cover the costs that are not covered by other loan programs.

SUPPORT YOU RECEIVE AFTER GRADUATION
Upon graduation, you’ll become a Chicago Public School teacher and a union member for four years post graduation.
